Amy Atlas To Bring Sweet Designs To Williams Sonoma

Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas

In addition to cooking, entertaining is another passion of mine and I'm always looking for a bit of inspiration when I am entertaining in stilettos.  When I heard Williams Sonoma was hosting a book signing for "The Sweets Stylist" Amy Atlas' new book, Sweet Designs: Bake It, Craft It, Style It, I immediately placed it on my calendar. See, Amy Atlas is a gal after my own heart – a legal eagle who can cook and entertain like a rockstar. Her book is gorgeous (like that was any surprise – have … [Read more...]

Mexican Chocolate Pudding Made Easy

MexicanChocolatePudding-Final

Every time a holiday comes near, I can't help but think of my Bampa's "Chocolate Pudding Pie".  He always had a chocolate pie cooling on the sideboard because, if you cut into it too soon, it would run everywhere.  He would make his whipped cream from scratch and here I would be rifling in the fridge looking for that "whipped topping in a tub" (hey I wasn't as well versed in homemade as I am now).  If I could go back in time knowing what I know now, I would love for the opportunity to cook … [Read more...]

It’s A Blueberry Crumb Cake Type Of Day…

BC-BlueberryCrumbCake-Final_thumb.jpg

Ever have one of those days where you just are feelin' "mehhhhhhh" and just want to burrow back into the pillows and head back to dreamland?  Well, that was me today.  Between the travel, constantly refereeing the furballs, the incessantly ever growing to-do list and lots of other things that are snappin' at my stilettos, I just wanted to pull the covers over my head and hide. However, I knew that I had plans to attempt baking in stilettos again – this time with the Barefoot Contessa's … [Read more...]

Tried and True: Captain Morgan Chocolate Chip Cookies

There's a story behind the creation of these cookies like with any cocktail-esque creation. In college, I fell in love with all things Captain Morgan thanks to "A" who constantly had a Captain & Coke in hand.  To this day, it's my spirit of choice.  Mixed with a bit of Diet Coke, I'm in heaven.  When  A. was stationed in Croatia and Bosnia, I was in charge of sending care packages from our crew.  One thing he always whined about was the lack of Morgan on base.  Hence, *poof* Captain … [Read more...]

Barefoot Bloggers Bonus: Ina Garten’s Brownie Pudding…

dscf0665

Thankfully, I didn't give up chocolate for Lent or I would have been in big trouble with this month's bonus Barefoot Bloggers'' Barefoot Contessa recipe - Brownie Pudding. I have to say, this recipe takes decadence to a new level. Do NOT serve up a big portion. In this case less is more. It's one that I would probably try again. Try it this weekend - see what your family thinks. (And don't forget the coffee and the vanilla bean - it puts the flavor "over the … [Read more...]

A Few Of My Favorite Things: Philadelphia’s Italian Market…

I recently flew up to Philadelphia for a birthday soiree thrown by two of my fave people, Meowmix and Reese at one of my favorite restaurants and in between hanging out with good friends, shopping and such, I also took some time to head over to my favorite culinary hangout in Philadelphia - the Italian Market. One thing I MISS about not being at least in driving distance of Philly is the airline restrictions with luggage. No longer am I able to load up my suitcase with spices and goodies to take … [Read more...]

Tried and True: Cherry Clafouti

Here's what is on the agenda this week at the house - Cherry Clafouti I've had good success making this, both as individual clafoutis and as one big clafouti. Want to achieve heights of nirvana - serve it with a scoop of vanillla or pistachio ice cream. You can make a clafouti with mostly any fruit but since I saw some gorgeous cherries at the Fresh Market this week, I'm going to use those. I've also been able to use thawed frozen berries, cherries, etc. Whatever I have on hand, I can … [Read more...]

Limoncello Brings A Little Bit of Sunshine

Is this gorgeous? Gotta love Michael Chiarello and Napastyle for their excellent serving ideas. This carafe set is on my "Must get" list.Speaking of Limoncello, the other day I bought my first bottle ofLimoncello, just because. I saw a couple cocktail recipes that I want to try and they sounded delicious. I knew it had a bit of za-za-zu as, well, we all heard about Danny Devito and George Clooney falling prey to its siren call. As I was in my freezer this morning, that lovely bottle was just in … [Read more...]
