Since I’ve moved from the suburbs and in to the big city, I’ve learned to appreciate the privately owned businesses a lot more. I don’t depend on the chain stores in the malls and your traditional grocery stores as much. I love to cook, so the ingredients and tools are imperative to me. So instead of heading to the Super Fresh a half of a mile away, I walk to Reading Terminal Market to get fresh local meats, produce, cheeses, baked goods, etc.
What if I need something for my kitchen like few new spatulas, Le Creuset, a new apron or a new whisk? When I lived in the suburbs I would have ended up at somewhere like Kitchen Kapers, Williams-Sonoma or maybe even Kohl’s. But now I head to this super cute kitchen boutique called Kitchenette. They are located at 1120 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. It’s situated in the basement of a Men’s formal-wear store. I walk by this store every day on my way home from work and it’s so hard to resist the temptation to just go in there and browse. They have so many cool gadgets and utensils that draw me in. I constantly see something new in the window that I just have to have! You know the feeling, don’t you? If you don’t have it your life simply will not go on!
And for those of you that don’t live in Philadelphia, no worries! You can still shop at this adorable kitchen boutique! They have an online store. Their web site contains just a small variety of the products available in the retail store. If there’s something you’re interested in that you don’t see on their web site, just send them an email or call them – they are very accommodating. The hospitality and superb customer service is the reason that I love shopping there and why they are still serving patrons here in Philadelphia.
Just look for that famous Will Cook for Sex apron outside and take the steps down to the lower level. Take it from me – you’ll be captivated!
