12 Days Of Giftmas –Shiny Copper Things

Day 6 of the 12 Days of Christmas continues with one of my absolute favorites – Shiny Copper Things. Yes, I know I am OBSESSED with all things copper but it looks so gorgeous in a kitchen. My dear friend SL has so much copper in his kitchen that whenever I visit Orlando, I feel a twinge of envy as I look upon his many copper pots and molds that adorn the kitchen walls.  One of these days, I’m going to have to beg him to shoot pictures of what he has done with his space.

So, without further adieu, let’s look at some gorgeous copper for the kitchen, shall we?

Fab Friday — Cooking In Stilettos Edition

Remind me to give that Punxsutawney Phil a big kiss one day – the groundhog has promised us an early spring and I, along with much of the Northeast, would be thrilled to kick Ol’ Man Winter outta here and look forward to sun, flowers, cocktails on the Bourbon Blue deck and the promise of green grass instead of this “snert” aka dirty snow. Plus, with spring comes baseball season and, as a Phillies fan, that always makes me happy. So, again with the happy thoughts for this week’s Fab Friday as we spotlight some beauties that have us all a-twitter.

1. Brian Atwood has hit it out of the park yet again with the Maniac, this time in one of my favorite metallics – Rose Gold. Victoria Beckham had sent her runway models wearing these during her last show and when I saw the photos, I about stopped in my tracks. These stilettos are one of my lust items for Spring ’11.

2. I tend to stick with brands I love and this Laguiole Cheese Knife Set from Anthropologie is a must for my kitchen. Functional and fabulous! Plus, I adore the bright colors – more “spring-like”, no?

3. These vintage kitchen scales from NapaStyle are retro and would look perfect in today’s country style kitchen or in the pages of the next issue of “Where Women Cook

4. 5 Ingredient Fix: Easy, Elegant, and Irresistible Recipes Fab Friday Cooking In Stilettos Edition by Claire Robinson is another one of those cookbooks that I wonder what I ever did without. The recipes are pretty simple, the flavors are out of this world and if you aren’t watching Claire Robinson’s show on Food Network, c’mon – you must give it a shot.

5. One place I’m super stoked to check out in Manayunk is The Spiral Bookcase. I adore books and there is something to be said about finding a gently used copy of a book I haven’t read in forever – whether it’s a cookbook that is from way back when or a really good novel. When you are in Manayunk, drop in and say hello – and don’t be surprised if you see me millin’ about, after all, their next door neighbor is a local coffee spot – Mugshots.

Obsessed With: NapaStyle’s Hand Hammered Copper Cookbook Stand

In addition to my serious Le Creuset addiction, I have another addiction – copper.  There’s something about the finish that has me short of breath and feeling butterflies, much like when I see a new pair of Louboutins.  Recently, the kind mailperson dropped off the new NapaStyle catalog for me and while I found my perfect coffee table (copper) and gawked over the “design your own kitchen island”, it was this hand-hammered copper cookbook stand that had me gasping for air and reaching for the wallet.  My current cookbook stand is far from efficient – constantly collapsing and not having that za za zu factor.  Plus – there is nothing warm about it.  It has long lived past its “Best By” day.  This copper cookbook stand would absolutely correct that situation.  After all, one’s kitchen is as important as one’s shoe closet (or so I keep telling myself).

Fab Friday: Cooking In Stilettos Edition

What a week – but here are some things that captured my attention…

  1. Bagley Mischka ‘Olaf’ Booties: Aren’t these just breathtaking? I love the delicacy of these with the nude shade. These would be booties that I would be too afraid to wear out – but so pretty to look at.
  2. Emile Henry: Figue Pizza Stone. Emile Henry just has that look of class, no? And this Figue color is just gorgeous. I have a pizza stone that I bought years past from a co-worker at a Pampered Chef party but this one just has that *it* factor that just commands attention.
  3. Williams-Sonoma Smoked Olive Oil: Jewels from the Roving Stove recently got me hooked on unfiltered olive oil. The taste is beyond out of this world. So, when I saw this Smoked Olive Oilon Williams-Sonoma, I have to admit I’m tempted to try. Call me a olive oil novice, but the recent olive oil litigation has me seriously examining what I buy and trying new options.
  4. Be still my heart – I need to reallocate choo funds for this gorgeous French Château Kitchen Island from NapaStyle. OK, so it is channeling one’s inner Real Housewife (back off Teresa – I saw it first! icon wink Fab Friday: Cooking In Stilettos Edition ) but still, gorgeous! Gotta hand it to NapaStyle for always finding items that grab one’s attention.
  5. Finally, on a Philly note, you must check out Steven Poses cookbook, At Home by Steve Poses – a Caterer’s Guide to Cooking & Entertaining. It is one of my “go-tos” on my cookbook shelf for entertaining. As a matter of fact, my dear friend SL is flying up from O-Town and already I’m bookmarking recipes and ideas from this to try out. Somehow, I think that SL will be swiping this cookbook and taking it back with him when he leaves. I better buy a spare copy icon wink Fab Friday: Cooking In Stilettos Edition

Fab Friday — Cooking In Stilettos Edition

Ahhh – amidst a very hectic week, I found some lovely things that needed a little spotlighting.

1.  Dolce Vita Joelle Lace-Up Boots.  Now, the military trend is hot and heavy and I’ve had my eyes on these gorgeous boots for a while now.  While you may be wondering where my head is at with the military swing, trust me on this.  Granted the ones I want are in black but when you put a 4″ heel and a 3/4″ platform, this boot has my heart at pitter patter for fall/winter.   You know me and stilettos – I have to have that heel height.  I’m short – it’s a must!  Plus, living in Manayunk means lots of snow and ice and, somehow, I think this lug sole will help me from breaking my butt on the cobblestones.

2. Williams Sonoma is coming out with their fall items and this Bachmara Hammered Copper Couscoussier reminds me of my gorgeous Nigella Lawson stockpot that has been a mainstay in my kitchen. The top is a steamer, the bottom a stockpot. Double duty at it’s best. I love anything copper in my kitchen and this just adds to that rich look.

3. While we’re on the subject of copper, aren’t these NapaStyle Copper Tumblers gorgeous? Love Love LOVE!

4. Principessa Beauty is one of my fave lines for lotions and bath essentials. Their hand cream, Cattiva Diva, is a staple both at work and at home. This Casa Collection is a must for my kitchen to keep things gorgeous.

5.  My new fave place to have cocktails during these summer months, the new deck at the Bourbon Blue. Granted, there’s no picture of it that I could clip but let me tell you, it’s to die for. I had the pleasure of being there for the Deck Opening Bash and the drinks, the food and the friends just made an evening perfect. It’s been a long time coming but they say the best things are worth waiting for, right?  This deck – with it’s gorgeous views of the Manayunk canal – perfection, my friends – perfection.

Obsessed With: NapaStyle’s POURfect Bowls

NSPOURfectBowls_thumb.jpg

Ever start baking and when you go to pour the contents of a bowl into a mixer or pot and things go EVERYWHERE?  My counters could tell of countless spills and “oops.”

NapaStyle has showcased these POURfect bowls and the idea is genius.  Couple that with the sassy red color and I think my kitchen is in need of a set or two.

Obsessed With: NapaStyle Carrara Marble Kitchen Island

NapaStyle CarraraMarbleKitchenIsland

Don’t get me wrong – I adore my Philly abode, but sometimes you just need extra counter space, no? And, one thing I’ve been obsessed with is looking at islands for the kitchen. Right now I have an open floor plan but with the mixer, the blender, the coffee pot, the wine Fridge, etc. – space is at a premium and moving the mixer to the back office is not an option unless I have a desire to toss my back out.

NapaStyle has this GORGEOUS Carrara Marble Kitchen Island that, while it’s a bit pricey (makes mental note to abandon any hope of purchasing a pair of Loubous and a new bag), it’s stunning. From the marble top to the modern details such as a pull out cutting board and wine storage, I’m in love. I can only imagine all the fun baking and treats that one could make here while not trying to find yet another spot to put one’s scraps bowl. Now, the fun part – finding the creative accounting method that will allow a gal to procure this lovely timeless piece of furniture.
