Heading Back To OTown For Food Blog Forum

Funny Bird Flying South

I have to say, since moving to Philadelphia a few years ago, my travel wings have been somewhat clipped.  Now - I do jaunt to NYC every so often but there's something about hopping a plane and heading south in the winter.  Now - Philly hasn't had much of a winter and our weather has been pretty much on par with Orlando for the past couple of weeks but I'm not whining.  Last year was pretty horrid with all that happened with the Sous Pug after I returned from South Beach Food & Wine and my … [Read more...]

Fab Friday – Travel Edition

Fab-Friday-Travel-Edition

I can put a checkmark by one of my Culinary Goals for 2012. I took the plunge and registered for not one but TWO blogging conferences this year – Bloggy Boot Camp in May here in Philly and Food Blog Forum Orlando in March.  Jen  at One Curly Fry has already started the countdown til #FBFOrl and this gal has to start prepping! With a trip to Orlando on the calendar, that means a couple extra days visiting old friends and, of course, a dinner soiree at SL's house. So, marinating on that, I … [Read more...]

Fab Friday – New York City Wine and Food Festival Edition

One thing I'm looking forward to is a day of R&R in one of my favorite cities - The Big Apple. This year's Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival is set up a bit differently in that the demos are at the Grand Tasting Tents so the likelihood of me running around the city like a chicken with my head cut off like last year is null and void. The tents are near one of my favorite happy places, Chelsea Market, and, if time allows, perhaps a quick jaunt to the store with a shoe floor … [Read more...]

Fab Friday – SOBE Edition

This weeks' Fab Friday comes to you live and direct from all points South Beach.  I'm in town this weekend for the 10th Annual Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival and, after all that nasty snow that Mother Nature slapped us with this winter, this is a well deserved breather.  81 degrees, a mojito and a cool breeze can make this gal happy in an instant.  Oh – and writing this post from the front balcony of the Catalina Hotel & Resort doesn't hurt either. Fab Friday - … [Read more...]

10 Commandments To Remember When Attending NYC Wine and Food Festival

As this was my first New York City Wine & Food Festival, I went into this sorta green.  I have attended SOBE before but this was in the Big Apple, home of all things Food Network.   Now that I'm slowly marinating on all that took place, here are a few helpful hints for those planning on attending NYCWFF next year... 1. Forget the cute stiletto-esque boots and be reasonable - wear flats. See, I wore these 4" fab military boots that I wear often around Philly- they are super comfy (at … [Read more...]

Foodbuzz 24, 24, 24: A Taste of SOBE

Entrance to the Tents at SOBEWFF

This year I was fortunate enough to take a quick jaunt to the sunny shores of South Beach to check out the Food Network's South Beach Wine & Food Festival.  First of all, this was held ON the beach - and when I say ON the beach, it was right there on the gorgeous white sands with a backdrop of the gorgeous blue ocean.  The weather was beautiful, to say the least and it was so cool to drive into the city of Miami with banners of various Food Network personalities including Sunny Anderson, … [Read more...]

Philly Recap: 9th Street Italian Market

During my trip to Philly a couple weeks ago, I took Saturday morning for myself and did something I always wanted to do - wander the Italian Market during one of the busiest days. Here in Orlando, our access to fresh spices, etc. is a bit limited and we can get spices from the Fresh Market but it's not the same. So that Saturday morning, I went and wandered up and down 9th street. My main object of interest was the Spice stores. I had seen Ms. Patti Labelle profile them on her show Livin' It … [Read more...]
