When I was growing up, the only cooking show that I was even vaguely familiar with was Julia Child’s PBS show and, to be honest, I was more interested in watching MTV. Cooking and I never really got along until about 10 years ago. As a “latch-key” kid, memories of cooking with my mother are very rare – I do remember doing the dishes tho. I remember coming home after school and, I’ll confess, I was not a stranger to the “mustard sammie” and other things I could muster together that did not require cooking. Let’s just say, my cooking skills left alot to be desired until I finally got bit by the culinary bug.
I was so excited to hear about Kids Who Love To Cook – an amazing web series that, you guessed it, teaches kids how to cook. So many of my friends have little ones who often tell me that they want to be the next Giada or Rachael and I always want to encourage them to follow their dreams. Plus – with the convenience of processed foods, it’s refreshing to see kids learn that they can make something that doesn’t always require a box.
So, if you have a future budding chef in training, why not take a moment and sit down with them and show them that there are Kids Who Love To Cook. Then, let them find a recipe that inspires them and pass them the apron and a spatula and see what they can whip up in the kitchen.
