One of my favorite tried and true recipes is a slow cooked Honey Garlic Chicken. It’s so simple to whip together early in the morning and when you come home, you are greeted with something that is nothing like you could get from takeout. This is a recipe that you can totally make your own – upping the heat level or, if you like it a bit more sweet – you can add a touch more honey. I added some additional garlic flavor by using my favorite Mojo de Ajo. I cooked it for about 7 – 8 hours and the chicken was a deep rich molasses hue thanks to the soy sauce. Using the chicken thighs makes this recipe totally economical and with a few pantry ingredients, you have a fabulous meal.
On to the recipe:
Gather the ingredients
Resist the urge to snack on the pineapple
Adding the honey to the soy sauce mixture
Prepping the Rice – it’s all about the presentation (and hoping it doesn’t collapse)
Viola – a tried and true!

[The Recipe Redo Series is when I take one of my earlier posts here at Cooking In Stilettos, redo the recipe with new pictures and add any tips I've learned along the way. This Tried & True originally appeared back in January of 2010: Tried and True: Honey Garlic Chicken. Promise not to laugh at the beyond horrid photo please.]
