Entertaining is not just for the holidays but year 'round.  I must confess that I, personally, can lose sight of that.  There's something to be said about the hustle and bustle of hosting a soiree for a few close friends to gather, have a fabulous cocktail and some delicious dishes, all while … [Read more...]

Amy Atlas To Bring Sweet Designs To Williams Sonoma

Sweet Designs by Amy Atlas

In addition to cooking, entertaining is another passion of mine and I'm always looking for a bit of inspiration when I am entertaining in stilettos.  When I heard Williams Sonoma was hosting a book signing for "The Sweets Stylist" Amy Atlas' new book, Sweet Designs: Bake It, Craft It, Style It, I immediately placed it on my calendar. See, Amy Atlas is a gal after my own heart – a legal eagle who can cook and entertain like a rockstar. Her book is gorgeous (like that was any surprise – have … [Read more...]

Colin Cowie Brings Spring To The Table

My DVR and I almost got into a horrid row yesterday. As I was leaving for my "no you can't wear the stilettos yet" doctor's appointment, I caught a teaser on the Today Show that Colin Cowie was going to be on. I quickly rushed to the TV and set the DVR before I headed out the door. When I got home, guess what wasn't on the DVR – yup, you guessed it – the DVR apparently decided that there would be no spring decorating tips for me. Thankfully, the TODAY Show archives their clips online and … [Read more...]

Tried and True: Coq Au Sauvignon Blanc

Coq Au Savignon Blanc

When I got word that I was going to be heading to Orlando for Food Blog Forum Orlando, I knew that I couldn't visit OTown and not have dinner at SL's with some dear friends. Prior to my leaving Philly, I had talked with SL about what should be on the menu. Knowing he's a huge fan of anything cooked with wine, he had suggested my slow cooker beef bourguignon, but I knew that time would be of the essence on Sunday and an all day slow cooker meal might not be an option. Thankfully, Nigella … [Read more...]

Go figure!). Here are some entertaining ideas that might put you in the holiday mood this season.   12 Days of Giftmas ~Day 3 ~ Cooking In Stilettos by … [Read more...]

Tried and True: Southern Meatballs

Southern Meatballs aka Grape Jelly Meatballs

There's something to be said about retro. Retro is comforting, brings warm and fuzzy memories of simpler times where we weren't freaking out about "Is my cell on? How many calories are in that? What the heck - I have 20bizillion things on my to-do list! Where the heck is my Starbucks?!?" and so on. We've had a bit of an 80s revival here in Philly - with the Dancin' On Air marathon and other things that are being buzzed about - and, let me tell you, the kids notice. My dear friend Heather (aka … [Read more...]

Salmon On The Grill – Mojo De Ajo Style

Mojo De Ajo Salmon - Fish

In a continuation of my love letter to that fabulous recipe Rick Bayless which has me completely enamored,  Mojo De Ajo, he came up with a great salmon recipe for the grill that he spotlighted on a recent Rachael Ray episode (shush – do. not. judge!).  Over the holiday weekend, I played with the recipe a bit and have put in my tried & true arsenal.  Best thing besides the flavors that pop due to the liquid gold aka mojo de ajo – the fact that these Mojo de Ajo Salmon Pockets are all … [Read more...]

Baffled & Bewildered: Williams-Sonoma

Williams Sonoma Scarf Print Tablecloth

For those that read All In Stilettos... y'all know I have been lusting after Williams-Sonoma's Blue Scarf Print Tablecloth for quite some time. I finally broke down and decided to go pick it up the other night as consolation. And that Williams-Sonoma had it in the exact size I needed. Score! Now, yes, the tablecloth is quite pricey, but if you see it in person - it's stunning. I pretty much only use two tablecloths - a standard white or a red. That's it. For me to really venture into this is … [Read more...]
