It seems like we are constantly on the go and, short of having an extra couple of hours in the day, there often is something that is left by the wayside. I must confess that I haven’t been cooking as often as I’d like – between the 9to9, the SousPug’s new med schedule, running back and forth to the vet, etc.– I often find myself with only 45 minutes to get the errands done before I have to be home to start the SousPug’s evening med schedule. I tend to do grocery shopping on the weekends but I’m always cautious when buying certain items for the week as they have a tendency to go bad. I have been guilty of getting takeout a couple nights a week because of recent events and that isn’t always the healthiest choice.
Recently I had a chance to try out a new service that delivers here in Philly, HelloFresh, and let me tell you – I had a few worry free evenings thanks to them. They deliver the ingredients for 3 meals straight to your doorstep and everything is super fresh – and you know how strict I am about my ingredients. They give you the recipes to go with and step-by-step instructions so you know that the meal will turn out stellar. The only thing you have to provide – the salt, pepper and EVOO – other than that, they have you covered.
Everything came sealed up tight, labeled according to recipe and went straight into the fridge until I needed them. HelloFresh sent ingredients for three fabulous meals – a Cashew Crusted Salmon over Lentils, a Beef & Broccoli Rabe Tostada and, my favorite, Turkey Polpette in Basil Tomato Sauce.
For the busy cook or beginner cook, the HelloFresh delivery service is fabulous. All in all, the peace of mind knowing that I could put away the local takeout number for the week and get everything on my table in under an hour was beyond helpful. I also looked at these recipes as sort of a canvas and was able to improvise a bit with adding a bit of spice here and there to suit my tastes and the meals turned out amazing. I really wish this service was around when I first started to learn to cook.

Improvising a bit with the basil tomato sauce – a gal must have a bit of Parmesan and Red Pepper Flakes added to the sauce.

Now this is the perfect dinner (and the leftovers (if there are any) the next day – even better!

HelloFresh provides the convenience of serviced cooking at home. In less than 30 minutes, you can have meals designed by a nutritionist and discover new ingredients and dishes from around the globe.
Each week you can choose 3 out of 5 options, leaving out what you do not like. There is also a great variety in vegetarian meals every week, going well beyond just regular tofu. I grew up just outside of Philly and will have to recommend #HelloFresh to my family back East. The company hasn’t made it out to Denver yet but I’ll be excited to try it out when they do. Love their concept!
