Well, this gal has braved Hurricane Sandy and, while we did lose electricity and cable shortly after Sandy hit land, thankfully that’s pretty much it. However, many have lost everything. The Jersey Shore of my youth – well, that’s changed and not for the better. New York has seen a catastrophic nightmare. Things will never be the same. One comforting thought in all of this is, if I have learned anything from my time in Hurricane Central aka Orlando, hurricanes can often bring out the human in people. People check on their neighbors. They take a moment to lend an ear. They watch out for others and I have to say, seeing people on the news helping one another – that made my heart sing and know that we, as a nation, will get through this.
The Food Blogging Community never ceases to amaze me. Two fabulous food bloggers, Jenn of Jenn Cuisine and Barb of Creative Culinary, are leading the charge with the Food Bloggers Support For Sandy, encouraging food bloggers to post a bit of comfort and raise awareness for those that have lost much. On November 8th, food bloggers are encouraged to share a favorite comfort food dish on their blog and you can follow along on twitter using the hashtag, #FBS4Sandy.
You can find more about Food Bloggers Support for Sandy here, including ways to donate if you don’t have a blog. If you are participating, let me know – I’d love to see what dish comforts you in times of need.
Many thanks to Jenn and Barb for “rounding up the troops!” You ladies are truly amazing!
