Winter means comfort food and when others are looking at the weather report while cursing the meteorologist under their breath for yet another clipper storm heading their way, I’m thinking of what comfort food dishes can I whip up.
I learned early on in my Orlando days that when bad weather is on the horizon, one hunkers down and breaks out some favorite comfort food recipes. I’ve taken the same way of thinking here up north and if the weather forecast calls for a blizzard, I’m heading to the store to pick up supplies for some of my favorite comfort food dishes, whether it’s Bourbon Slow Cooked Pulled Pork, Beef Bourguignon or a big pot of Fire Roasted Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons. For breakfast, it could be a French Toast Bread Pudding or a Philly Style Sausage and Peppers Strata. If a sweet chocolatey treat is called for, why not make my Spicy Smoky S’mores or a divine Chocolate Stout Cake. When it comes to comfort food recipes, I’m your gal.
Foodie asked us to compile some of our favorite tried and true Comfort Food Favorites and, while it was hard to pick my top favorites, I bit the bullet and have compiled 16 of my often made, blizzard tested, must make recipes. Each of these recipes are a winner in my home and I know your friends and family will love them!
